MasterPath: Ancient Teachings, Contemporary Practice

Masters of Light and Sound have appeared throughout history in many cultures, always ready to assist sincere seekers on the road to liberation. Each Master, such as Lao Tse, Pythagoras, Jesus, Nanak, and Sri Gary Olsen, has encountered a different era, psychology, mindset, and cultural landscape. While the principles of the Light and Sound Teachings have remained unchanged, each Master has taken the spiritual responsibility to deliver the Teachings in a way that provides the greatest benefit to the students drawn to His door, adapted to the culture in which He serves.

How each Master chooses to present these unalterable truths to the students of His day and age is reflected in how their message is remembered: Lao Tse is known for embracing seeming paradoxes, Pythagoras for his focus on bringing the vibration of all life into harmony, Jesus for His emphasis on love, and Sri Gary Olsen for stressing that the discovery of soul’s consciousness is the key to the spiritual life.

Historically, the most recent Light and Sound Paths have flourished in India, where there is a long-standing cultural tradition of spiritual teachers. Sri Gary Olsen is a contemporary Master of the Light and Sound Teachings, and He has founded MasterPath, a contemporary Western expression of these ancient Teachings. In keeping with the necessity of addressing students in this Western, 21st century culture, Sri Gary has maintained the absolute integrity of the Light and Sound Teachings, and has created vows and practices tailored for the Western student, ones that will allow them to most expediently attain the heights of true spirituality: Self and God Realization.

The only vow embraced by MasterPath students is moderation in all things; Sri Gary also recommends a spiritual exercise of 20 to 30 minutes a day. For a person raised and living in a Western culture, this requires the same focus, sincerity, and will to liberation required of a student in the Eastern Paths. However, a student in a Western culture attempting to adhere to the traditional Eastern vows can create complications, for the failure to meet the standards of both complete renunciation and long hours of meditation brings guilt and frustration. Love, not vows, is the only power that will bring the mind to willing stillness, and the contemplation exercise taught by Sri Gary Olsen uses the active tendencies of the minds of His students to bring greater success in a shorter spiritual exercise.

The monthly dues of $30 allow the MasterPath to meet financial obligations that are met in the East by donations: MasterPath operates a small office, pays modest salaries, holds meetings, and offers free materials to interested seekers. The only other fees are those for purchasing materials and attending seminars held three times a year with Sri Gary, which currently cost $150 for the weekend.

Sri Gary Olsen and MasterPath deliver the essential principles of the Light and Sound Teachings in their pure and unaltered form, fulfilling the mission of this Living Master to bring these Teachings to students within this contemporary Western culture.
